Alleged Threat-Maker, Graffiti Vandal Identified by Former Friends

Several people — including some who call themselves “super liberal” — have come forward to identify the person sending threatening letters and spray-painting graffiti on the Reagan Library sign. These sources supplied the Guardian with multiple handwriting samples that match the handwriting on the anonymous letters and the graffiti.

According to sources, the person responsible — whom the Guardian will not identify by name or gender until law enforcement has time to act — is a violent, Antifa-associated activist, now unemployed but with a background in law enforcement, which this person believes makes him or her immune to prosecution.

“[This person] has gone nuts,” one former friend told the Guardian. “[This person] is violent, is a liar and is a thief.”

People describe this person’s numerous instances of violence. One advised coworkers to call 911 if they ever saw this person come to the workplace.

Unstable behavior increased starting in 2021 when the person “felt very guilty about [voting for Trump in 2016], but then warped it into this irrational hatred of anyone who voted for Trump,” says a former friend. “Everybody that did needed to be punished. It’s like this crazy violence against them. It makes no sense.”

They describe a person who seeks people in parking lots and other public places to confront and, at times, assault for wearing Trump gear or having “the wrong bumper sticker.”

The person publicly associates with left-wing groups in the Conejo Valley. Informants describe years of betrayal and bizarre, aggressive behavior that has driven close friends away.

“[This person] runs around attacking people like a lunatic,” says one.

Because of this person’s law enforcement background, he or she has told close friends many times, “I can say anything I want, and they’re going to believe me because I’m former law enforcement. I’m never going to get in trouble.”

When sources saw “RoN DeFascist” spray-painted on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library sign the night before Ron DeSantis came to speak there on March 5, 2023, they immediately suspected who did it. The multiple samples they provided of the suspect’s handwriting showed remarkable similarities to the graffiti and to threatening letters/postcards sent to Guardian advertisers and citizens who have voiced opinions in public meetings. Many of these crimes were committed through the U.S. Postal Service and carry a possible penalty of Federal and State fines and imprisonment.

Asked if they think the suspect might do something unpredictable in advance of the Republican debates at the Reagan Library in September, one former associate said, “I would not be surprised.”

The Guardian has turned over to law enforcement all information received about this individual in hopes of preventing further violence and threats. If you have any information on anyone sending threatening notes, accosting people for their political views, or vandalizing public or private property, please contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 654-2890.

  1. I’m glad this Antifa terrorist has finally been identified. Defacing public property, harassing members of the community with hate mail, this person needs to see jail time. I hope the rest of his “associates” begin to fall like dominoes. I wouldn’t be surprised if some members of the CVUSD school board are aquatinted with this person.
