CVUSD teacher and election sign thief Carrie Howard-Ludlow has yet to be charged by the Ventura County district attorney’s office, eight months after she illegally snatched signs of conservative candidates from a street corner and drove away with them in her trunk.
Howard-Ludlow actively campaigned for leftist board member and transgender proponent Lauren Gill. Howard-Ludlow was arrested by Thousand Oaks police detectives for stealing signs of other candidates for school board in October. She “admitted that she only took the signs that opposed her political views and admitted to taking additional signs from a second location,” according to a Thousand Oaks Police Department news release. Video of the theft circulated widely online.
Howard-Ludlow continues to substitute-teach in CVUSD classrooms and post about her political activism online.
She should be Fired!!
As one of Carrie Howard-Ludlow’s victims, I’m disappointed and appalled that the authorities have ignored what amounts to election interference. I thought honest and fair elections was something both parties took seriously. It looks like our District Attorney is using the ‘IRS handbook” and letting the charges against Howard-Ludlow go unprosecuted till they exceed the statute of limitations. It seems that the weaponization of the legal system extends to local school board elections as well. If the District Attorney allows this case to go unprosecuted, it sends a clear message that rule of law means nothing and emboldens people like Howard-Ludlow to continue to ignore Election Law to achieve their desired outcomes for future elections.
What makes this worse is that Carrie Howard Ludlow knew her actions violated our Election Codes. In 2022 she was the campaign manager for current board member Lauren Gill who ran against incumbent Sandi Everett. Giving Howard Ludlow the benefit of the doubt, I assume she is intelligent enough to have studied and learned the campaign rules. That being said, she made a conscious decision to ignore those rules and steal yard signs from candidates she didn’t support. Not surprisingly, Sandi Everett experienced the same illegal sign stealing issues during her campaign against Gill. Howard-Ludlow’s underhanded tactics worked to get her friend Gill elected so she resorted to using them once again to defeat the conservative school board candidates in the 2022 mid terms. Obviously Howard-Ludlow believes herself above the law and lives by the adage “rules for thee and not for me”.
I find it sad that CVUSD continues to allow Howard-Ludlow to teach in our schools. There was a time when teachers were respected for their honesty, fairness and impartiality. Howard-Ludlow exhibits none of those traits yet she continues to be allowed to teach our impressionable children. The fact that CVUSD condones this – speaks volumes about the path our current school board and district administration has chosen to walk.
If it were a BLM flag or poster and a conservative person were to remove it you know damn well the liberal CVSD would have the person prosecuted and loss of employment.

The LEFT has been moving to VC from L.A. since the 60s when movie and tv people who filmed out here saw a chance to raise their children away from the environment they were creating. The Watts riots of 65 solidified the trend. They did NOT leave their Leftism in Hollywood.
Karen Meyer showing up to court prepared to cry and give a victim impact statement for an $8 campaign sign that was returned to her (all while she herself was running a highly unethical campaign in which she plagiarized content from the other candidate) is comical. And the fact that anyone would suggest that job loss and jail is an appropriate consequence for a returned $8 sign should indicate we aren’t dealing with the sharpest tools in the toolbox. Stay bigly mad, snowflakes.
Just another example of the political double standard leftist approach to law enforcement when it comes to enforcement and the rule of law. Charges should be levied on this individual immediately and prosecuted for this crime, and it is a crime. Misdemeanor petty theft and election interference. Look what is happening to Donald J Trump for a phone call, this is an observed and confessed to crime.
It seems that the weaponizing of our local legal system extends to local school board elections as well as anyone identifying as a “Democrat” . If the District Attorney allows this case to go unprosecuted, it sends a clear message that the RULE OF LAW means nothing and emboldens Leftists like Carrie Howard-Ludlow to continue to ignore the rule of law IE Election Law to achieve their desired outcomes for future elections.
She should be convicted, punished to the letter of law, fired and banned from ever holding a position of influence over students in any jurisdiction. What message are you sending to our youth?
