Election – 42nd Assembly District

Lori Mills, businesswoman, lorimills4stateassembly.com

Our state is headed in the wrong direction with soaring crime rates, a homeless crisis, CRT (Critical Race Theory) in our schools, a man-made water crisis, an endless war on our energy and the high cost of living that is out of control. If someone did not step in, then who would?

I am a native Californian born in Santa Monica, and California is my home. I love our state and am finished watching it be destroyed. I feel running for office is a calling. I stepped away from everything, including my business, to serve the people of California who have been ignored for far too long! We are losing this state and country. The reason they should vote for me is I am not a career politician and have spent my life in the private sector. I know what it takes to run a business and have 30 years in contract negotiation while putting my clients’ needs above my own. I’m not doing this because I want power or a dream job. I’m doing this for you!

[Concerning the most pressing issues and how to solve them.]

  1. Cracking down on a rampant crime surge created by progressive DAs.
  2. We need to stop the revolving door of crime and put victims before the criminal. My opponents voted for no-cash bail and let violent criminals back on the street. We need to create legislation where, if we have DAs not doing their jobs, they can become accomplices to future crimes of those they have ignorantly released. I support law and order and equal justice under the law. We need to untie our law enforcement’s hands and let them do their jobs to keep our neighborhoods safe. We need to provide the best training and tools to de-escalate crime without the use of force when possible. Ronald Reagan once said, “We must reject the idea that every time laws are broken, society is guilty and not the law breaker.” I agree with him!
  3. Solving the state’s homeless crisis.
  4.  We must dismantle top-heavy paid bureaucrats from the equation. The corruption must end. I would like to partner with the private sector and faith-based organizations that have done a much better job than our government. We need to fund mental institutions again! I would like to donate state land to create a community with three separate areas: One for those trying to get on their feet, one section for the drug-addicted with treatment and therapy, and another for the mentally ill where they are given their medications. Anyone who poses a danger will need to be put into a facility.

In this community, there needs to be job training; they can grow food and work. What we are seeing today, due to failed policy, is not working as Skid Row is now everywhere! The homeless can no longer be allowed to live on our streets, parks or beaches. This is not normal, and shame on those that have let the problem get so out of hand. My opponents missed three votes on the homeless.

3. Cost of living

  1. My opponent, Jacqui Irwin, got 3 Ds and 2 Fs from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association, and they have endorsed my campaign. Regulations are a tax on the people. I say for every regulation proposed, we have to cut ten. We need to cut the red tape for the business owners. The prevailing wage needs to end as restaurant owners are struggling to stay afloat. It has become nearly impossible for small businesses to function in California. We need to end the death tax which they threw back on the people. Let’s cut taxes and end the burden on our families.
  2. Water
  3. I have spent four hours with water executives, and all I have to say is the drought is real; the water crisis is man-made. We cannot ration our way to the bottom. Keep in mind Californians passed proposition 1 and allotted $200 million to water storage, yet not one penny was spent on it. Where did the money go? Due to climate extremists getting on boards, lawfare has become the new normal, and it’s time for the California legislators to put a stop to it! The Delta Conveyance project needs to be completed! They need to fill our reservoirs. Even now, these extremists have shut down the freemen diversion because of a steelhead trout! This has emptied the ponds of our farmers! Do you like to eat? I do! The craziest part of this is that while farmers cut down their trees, these extremists hurt our environment! Trees absorb carbon emissions! As far as desalinization, these un-elected bureaucrats need to get out of the way! The United States built the largest [desalination plant] in the world in Saudi Arabia in one year. It’s time to put the people of California first!

On Crime, Jacqui Irwin voted to let violent criminals out of jail and ended cash bail (SB 10). Jacqui Irwin voted to lower penalties for adults to have sex with children (SB145). She voted to reduce criminal sentencing for felonies involving firearms and gang enhancements (SB 81). On homelessness, Jacqui Irwin missed all three votes.

On our economy, Jacqui Irwin did not vote to suspend the gas tax, and on another vote, she raised it (AB 1638). Then she decided to chair a committee to figure out why gas prices are high. On CRT in schools, Jacqui Irwin voted to compel schools to teach CRT to our children (AB 101). If she did anything well OR moderate, I would not be running! Truth be told, the only thing Jacqui Irwin has done right is cater to special interest groups.

I understand the struggles facing Californians. I am a native Californian and love my state, and I will fight to save her. I am a wife, mother and grandmother whose son is currently in boot camp in the U.S. Marine Corps. No one owns me, and I am 100 percent supported by the people, unlike Jacqui Irwin. I do not owe any special interest groups favors, and my votes will strictly be to better the lives of Californians!
